DANUM VALLEY ON A BUDGET

DANUM VALLEY FIELD CENTRE

The Danum Valley Field Centre was established in 1986 as a facility for conducting research and supporting scientists in rainforest studies. Today, it’s one of the leading field centers in Southeast Asia, fully equipped with laboratories, a conference room, researcher living quarters, dorms, camp grounds, and a cafeteria. As a research centre first and foremost, it was not originally designed with tourists in mind, but over the years, the privilege of staying there has been extended to keen naturalists and independent travelers.

DANUM VALLEY ON A BUDGET

INFAPRO

Located strategically near the gate of Danum Valley Field Centre, INFAPRO is a tree nursery project base that is responsible for replanting areas of forest that have been logged in the past. When accommodation in Danum Valley Field Centre is full or closed, we use INFAPRO as an alternative.

Rooms at INFAPRO are comfortable and clean with ensuite bathrooms, hot water, air conditioning, and 24 hour electricity. Food is simple and tasty. The accommodation is just a half an hour drive to Danum Valley Field Centre (DVFC), and this is where all activities take place - spend the day with your guide exploring the extensive network of trails during early morning, late afternoon and night walks. If that isn’t exciting enough, the added advantage of staying at INFAPRO is the opportunity to spot wildlife during safari drives - early morning, afternoons as well as night drives.
